Your student is currently working on a History Project for one of our Nifty Fifty States!
Projects are due on November 3rd.
By now your student has let you know which of the choices they will pick for presentation as well as which state they have chosen. If you have not yet signed their project sheet please do so and remind them to return it to me for credit.
Projects should be completed primarily by students, however, I understand there may be some aspects your student needs help with if they have chosen a presentation with technology or one that requires a lot of sculpting. I encourage you to leave all the decisions up to them and simply lend a hand if they are struggling to get their concepts the brainstorming stage into a concrete presentation.
We are working on these projects during class time too.

Orange/Grapefruit Fundraiser
We participate in a fundraiser each year, selling oranges and grapefruits for $44/box.
These are delivered to the school and available for pick up the second week of December.
Please ask your student about this order form if they haven't showed it to you already. We are selling them as a school, however, the class that sells the most gets a pizza/ice cream/movie party!
I have also extended a class prize to the student who sells the most. They will receive a "Get Out of Homework Free" slip to be used on any assignment of their choice.
I have plenty of order forms if you fill up your first one!
The cut off date to get order forms back to me is November 20th.
Please feel free to give your friends and family my email or the school's phone number if they have any questions regarding their order.

Storybook Character Day
In lieu of Halloween (we will be in parent teacher conferences), your student is welcome to dress up, this Friday (October 27th) as their favorite character from a book.
We do ask that the character is not a witch, ghoul, zombie, etc.
It must also be modest, not revealing too much skin.
They must bring the book with them on Friday. I have stressed to each of them that if they dress up without the book they will be out of dress code and will receive a Demerit.
They are also welcome to bring a dish to represent their book. (Ex: Chronicles of Narnia: Turkish Delight)

Memory Verse Genesis 12:2-3 ESV
Genesis 12:2-3English Standard Version (ESV)
"2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."
****We will be memorizing this in class together. I have not sent home a paper version. They are welcome to continue memorizing it at home. It is written on the whiteboard for them to copy down and for us to say each day. The score for this verse will be based on a verbal presentation of it.
Memory Verse Genesis 9:11-15
Genesis 9:11-15 ESV
11 I establish my covenant with
you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood,
and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” 12 And God
said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and
every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: 13 I have
set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me
and the earth. 14 When I bring clouds over the
earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, 15 I will
remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of
all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all
flesh.

Alaska Day Fun
We will be celebrating Alaska Day on the 18th of this month.
We have a whole day of fun learning planned, complete with a visit from our very own, Senator Coghill. He will be sharing about the formation of Alaska as a state from his personal experience.
We will also be taking a field trip to the Morris Thompson Cultural Center in Fairbanks. Please sign your child's permission slip and have them return it tomorrow (Tuesday the 15th).
