Day Hike to Angel Rocks Permission Slip

We are finishing out unit on Preparedness on Tuesday May 15th with a day hike. We will put into action a few of the things we are learning through this exciting unit. We will be hiking Angel Rocks (a common hiking trail off Chena Hot Springs Road). Mrs. Green, Mr. Evans, and myself will be leading the hike and driving all students to the location. 

In the case of emergency I ________________________give Mr. Evans permission to administer basic first aid for my child, ___________________________________. Also, I give my permission to allow the staff of NPCS to assess and care for my child in the case of emergency and release them from any liability in the unlikely event of physical harm.

Last Day of School ~ Field Day

The last day of school is quickly approaching and we are having a Field Day! It will be taking place the last day of school on the playground and basketball court. We will have 2 teams, red and blue.  The events will begin promptly at 9AM We would love parent volunteers at each game.  Please email me or Mrs. Green and let us know if you would like to help. Miss Cloe or Mrs. Ebinger can email you with more details for the volunteer duties. If you would like to volunteer, please be here no later than 8:45AM to be apart of the set up for your area.  All games will closed and cleaned up before 11AM so parents and volunteers can enjoy lunch with their student at 12PM.  There are events with water, mud and other icky messes (kid-friendly) so please send your child with a towel and a change of clothes!

The last day of school is Thursday, our field day and it is a half-day.

We are, however, providing full day, all age, day care if you cannot pick up early. 

Also, the entire last week of school is also going to be a Spirit Week.  The days are as follows;

Monday is Tacky Day

Tuesday is Super Hero/ Princess Day

Wednesday is Crazy Hair Day

Thursday is Team Day (Students are encouraged to wear their team shirt and get crazy with their team's color!)

Our contribution as a class is hot dogs. Please bring at least 2 packages by Wednesday.

Spring is Here; Winter Gear is Out

Please have your student collect and bring home any winter gear they may have in their locker or in lost and found. They need only a warm coat and perhaps a hat or light gloves.

8th Grade Graduation

Families of 8th Graders:

Please join us for a graduation ceremony in the gym, directly after Chapel on May 11th. The ceremony will commence at 9:30AM and we will recognize the graduating 8th grade class. If you have friends or family that would like to be present please invite them!

SCRIPTURE ROCK
I am incredibly proud of our 6th-8th students as they have won the scripture rock so many times this semester they have won the party for the most wins! We will have Donuts and Milk for a breakfast party tomorrow (May 8th) during our Bible period. 

March Accomplishments: 
6th-8th grade: 
Bible: Memory Verse Memorization: We have memorized over 100 verses this year. Your students have hid God's Word in their heart to use it at a later time in life and THAT is exciting.

Spelling: Spelling Words (150 words with even more for Vocabulary) as well as grade appropriate poems. 6th grade has memorized the poem, "The Arrow and The Song" highlighting the importance of speaking kind, loving words to people, instead of hurtful ones. 8th grade has memorized "O Captain, My Captain", depicting the grieving of the American nation after the death of President Abraham Lincoln.

History: We concluded our history curriculum with current events spanning from the presidency of Ronald Reagan all the way to our current President Trump. We have learned the destructiveness of Communism and have respectfully discussed the opposing views of the potential ban of the 2nd Amendment. We are finishing out the year with a unit of Natural Disaster Preparedness. Your student will be given a fun identity and asked to carry with them a go-bag. We will explore first aid, gun safety, and finding shelter and food in our great, wild state. The culmination of this unit will be on Tuesday, the 15th when we go on an all day hike. IT: We have continued practicing our typing skills, and the students have sharpened their touch typing while slowly doing away with pecking at the keyboard. We've also finished our course in Computer Science with Code.org after learning much about coding, looping, and other exciting computer programming concepts.

3rd-5th grade:
History: We have completed our History curriculum with our final unit focusing on the Industrial Revolution. We learned about the importance of making items quickly, for less money as well as the devastating effect this had on those who made items like rugs and woven clothes, by hand. We will work on exciting and fun geography lessons for our last week together. Also, the 3rd and 4th graders will join the upper elementary grades in a hike on Tuesday, May 15th.
