February Newsletter

Mrs. C's 6th-8th grade has won the scripture rock 3 times so far this semester! You should be extremely proud of your students as this was no easy feat. They've been memorizing the Sermon on the Mount and at one point gave a oral presentation of twelve verses!

Here are some highlights from our month!

February Accomplishments:
6th-8th grade:
Bible: Memory Verse Memorization: Currently working on the Sermon on the Mount. We've memorized verses 1-19 and are working on 21-22 this week!
Spelling: Spelling Words (120 words with even more for Vocabulary)
History: We continued learning about events in the westward expansion of the US like the Louisianan Purchase and the Mexican Cession.
IT: We're working on our typing speed and fluency along with basic functions in Microsoft Word and Linux Text Maker. Your student was given a USB to use for the rest of the year. At the end of the year they will return this USB in good condition. If they cannot return it they will be "fined" $30.

3rd-5th grade:
History: Units surrounding our 50 states! We are in the thick of discussing our Northeast states.
IT: We're working on our typing speed and fluency along with basic functions in Microsoft Word and Linux Text Maker. Your student was given a USB Drive to use for the rest of the year. At the end of the year they will return this USB Drive in good condition. If they cannot return it they will be "fined" $30.

**Mr. Jenkins has officially taken over Math class for all grades 3rd-8th. The students are adjusting to his knew style of teaching. They have impressed me this year with their ability to adapt and make things work when our schedule, teachers, or daily events completely change.

Elective
We are all very excited to see P.E. return and can't wait until the snow melts so we can go outside! Mrs. Green, Mr. Evans, and myself will be taking turns leading P.E. I will be leading on Tuesdays and Thursdays and using this time for conditioning (ie: running, cardio, circuits, etc.). Gym clothes are require and a demerit will be given if a student is without them. Gym clothes include: Solid color shirt or NPCS shirt with logo, gym shorts with a length reaching almost to their knees (for girls, they may wear leggings under shorts, but not by themselves) and socks/tennis shoes.

Dr. Notes
Injuries happen and because our students are extremely active we understand that occasionally they might get hurt or fall ill and not be able to participate in normal activities. Our first and primary concern is the student's safety. Please be sure to send a doctor's note with your child in the event of an injury or illness that will take them out of daily activities.

Pizza Fridays
If you would like to participate in Pizza Fridays please send pizza money with your student ($4/slice, $2/extra slice) on Thursday. I generally never send out pizza slips, but it is still an option for your student.

Important Dates to Remember:
March 1st-2nd: Dr. Seuss Days (Please refer to the Dr. Seuss blog post)
